10 Spring Shoe Trends We Traced Back to Street Style

It’s no secret that trends are born on the runway. Take this most recent FW23 season, for example: Casual outfit formulas are in, and quiet, laidback luxury is replacing loud logo-mania. That being said, we’d argue that the street style scene is just as (if not more) influential when it comes to forecasting the season’s next It items. And this spring, we couldn’t help but notice the seriously strong shoe game spotted on some of fashion’s chicest insiders, whether outside the shows or to-and-from parties. These street style shoes are already gaining cult-like status—think springtime loafers from Tory Burch and Everlane to transitional knee-high boots from Gucci and Toteme.

Vogue’s Spring Shoe Wish List:

Crafting the chicest spring capsule wardrobe often begins from the ground up—and what better foundation than a dazzling pair of crystal-embellished fashion flats? During London Fashion Week, a stylish showgoer stepped out in Alaïa’s Mary Jane version; and while the style has since sold out, others from Miu Miu, Bottega Veneta, and Khaite sparkle all the same. According to Vogue’s global contributing fashion editor, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, the chunky loafer craze is anything but over. Styles from Reformation and Tod’s remain at the top of our shopping carts. Unlike her peers in a Mary Jane heel or two, Sienna Miller arrived at the Prada FW23 show in a pair of Western-inspired mules that rivaled the cowboy boot fad of last fall. And for those more elegant, evening moments, a pointed-toe pump or a minimalist kitten heel get the street style seal of approval.

This season, street style shoes range from perfectly practical to fabulously fashion-forward. Get in on the trends and shop our guide, below.

The Springtime Loafer

A black loafer might be the ultimate wardrobe essential, but this spring, why not go for something a bit more festive? Per the editor of Vogue.com, Chioma Nnadi, Gucci’s bright white horsebit loafers are the perfect pick. Slightly sleeker versions include options from Everlane and Toteme to Khaite and Loewe.
